IELTS Program

About Program

The International English Language Testing System (IELTS) is an English language proficiency test for non-native English speakers. It is used by many universities, colleges, and employers as a measure of a candidate’s English language ability. The test assesses four skills: listening, reading, writing, and speaking. IELTS scores are reported on a scale of 0 to 9, with a score of 9 being the highest level of proficiency. The test is available in two formats: Academic and General Training. The Academic format is for those who want to study at a university or college, while the General Training format is for those who want to work or undertake training in an English-speaking country.

Criteria for accepting IELTS certificates for PLAB part 1:

  • You must have taken the academic version of the IELTS test.
  • You must have achieved a score of at least 7.0 in each testing area and an overall score of 7.5 in the same test.
  • Your IELTS certificate must show the original stamp and test report form number.
  • Your certificate must be valid on the day you sit the PLAB part 1 exam.

If your IELTS certificate is more than two years old, you may still be eligible if you can provide additional evidence that demonstrates your English language proficiency. This can include references from a tutor, lecturer, or employer who can vouch for your English language skills.

In summary, to take PLAB part 1, you must have an IELTS certificate that meets specific requirements, and it must be valid on the day of the exam. If your certificate is more than two years old, you can provide additional evidence to demonstrate your language proficiency.
